Twelve people were injured, six critically, after a knife attack at the central railway station in Hamburg, Germany, on Friday. The assailant struck on the platform between tracks 13 and 14 before being apprehended by police.
Authorities confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that a suspect had been arrested but did not release further details about the individual or their motive. The incident unfolded at one of Germany’s busiest transport hubs, located in the heart of the country's second-largest city.
Hamburg's fire service reported that six victims sustained life-threatening injuries. Three others were seriously injured, and three more suffered minor wounds, according to the German news agency dpa.
Police quickly cordoned off sections of the station, disrupting local, regional, and long-distance rail services as emergency crews responded. The investigation is ongoing.
