Hazaribag: Divya Prakash of St. Xavier's school topped Class X exam in the district by securing 99.2%.
Divya, who lost his father Sanjay Kumar to Covid in 2020, said, "I studied for eight hours daily without any coaching or tuition to make my father's dream come true. He was my inspiration."
A resident of Kumhartoli Mohalla in Hazaribag city, Divya's mother Manju Devi got a job with the Hazaribag Municipal Corporation on compassionate grounds after his father passed away.
A firm believer in hard work and dedicated perseverance to achieve any aim, Divya dreams of passing the IIT-JEE exam.
Manju Devi said, "We faced tough times after my husband passed away. Divya's success has made me proud."
Divya's sister Garima Priyadarshini, who is pursuing postgraduation, said, "I knew that Divya would bag a good rank. I hope he faces future challenges similarly."
Other examinees of the school — Ayan Khan secured 98%, Tubhyam Jain 97%, Shadullah Akhtar 97%, Ashutosh 96.8%, and Ayush Raj 96.6% — performed well.
The first batch of DPS, Shankarpur, also performed well, with Sakshi Kumari securing 96.8% marks.
At Angel's High, Shaurya Saha and Shrestha Arun became joint school toppers in Class X by securing 97.8% marks. In Class XII, Mansi Kumari became the topper in science by securing 94.2%, Akshya Jain got 96.4% in commerce, and Abhiraj Singh and Amritanshu Kashyap became joint toppers in arts by securing 95.2%.
Piyush Kumar topped DAV Public School with 98.2% in Class X exam.
