Ranchi: The bodies of two men with their throats slit were found near a pond in Balsiring village under Dhurwa police station limits of Ranchi district late on Sunday night, the police said on Monday. However, their identities were not ascertained till late evening.
Police stated that prima facie it seemed both the men, aged between 20-25 years, were murdered as there were knife injury marks on their necks and added that the bodies were sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
City SP Raj Kumar Mehta said, "The recovery was made from a remote place which is rarely visited by local villagers. The people of the area were questioned but no one provided information about the deceased persons. We are investigating from all angles to ascertain whether the men were murdered somewhere else and dumped here to avoid detection of the crime."
Police stated that messages about the victims would be sent to various police stations in the state for identification adding that several locals are also being interrogated. Sources stated that the place of occurrence of incident is also a gathering spot for the anti-social elements.
