Classic 1980s cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is getting a brand new video game adaptation.
Developed by Bitmap Bureau, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction is coming to PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch in 2026.
With Limited Run Games publishing the title, fans can expect a physical release as well as a digital launch. Pre-orders will go live in early 2026.
The game was announced with a gorgeous gameplay trailer ahead of Gamescom Opening Night Live.
As you can see from the trailer below, the He-Man game is a beat-em-up with retro style visuals.
According to the official description, the game features 12 levels and a whole host of playable characters.
Needless to say, players will battle familiar foes such as Skeletor and Evil-Lyn. It looks fantastic.
"Inspired by the iconic '80s cartoon, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction allows players to take control of Eternia's beloved heroes, including He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and more, to battle Skeletor and Evil-Lyn and save Eternia from plunging into darkness," reads the official description.
"Fight through over 12 action-packed levels using character-specific moves, abilities, and power-ups to stop Skeletor's ancient ritual that threatens to take over Eternia."
He-Man's feline companion Battle Cat will also join the party, fighting alongside He-Man.
Bitmap Bureau's previous credits include the superb Final Vendetta, which is another retro-inspired beat-em-up with a cult following.
The studio is also working on upcoming action game Terminator 2D: NO FATE, which is a side-scrolling game launching this October.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction is playable at Gamescom, so hopefully we'll be able to check it out ahead of launch.
