Carlos Alcaraz defeated reigning champion Jannik Sinner to be crowned the US Open champion on Sunday. The Spanish superstar will also return to No. 1 in the world after sealing a 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-4 victory over his biggest rival.
Aged 22, Alcaraz now has six Grand Slam titles to his name. He and Sinner made history coming into the championship match - it was the first time in the Open Era that the same two men have face off in at least three Major finals in a single season, as they also met at Wimbledon and Roland Garros.
It comes after Aryna Sabalenka, successfully defended her US Open crown on Saturday. The Belarusian got revenge on Amanda Anisimova, who beat her in the Wimbledon semi-finals earlier this summer.
