Prince Andrew remained in contact with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for longer than he admitted in a 2019 interview, emails have revealed. The middle son of the late Queen Elizabeth II previously said in his bombshell interview for Newsnight with Emily Maitlis that he cut contact with Epstein in December 2010.
However, emails have emerged that reportedly show that he was still exchanging emails with Epstein in February 2011. The 65-year-old reportedly told Epstein that they could "play some more" in an email shared two months after he claimed that their contact had come to an end.
In one email, Andrew wrote: "Keep in close contact and we'll play some more soon."
It had previously been claimed that Andrew and Epstein had cut contact in late 2010 after they were pictured walking through Central Park in New York City.
The pair reportedly agreed to cease contact the day after a photograph from 2001 was published which appeared to show Andrew with his arm around the late Virginia Giuffre who was then aged 17. Viriginia was found dead at her Australian home earlier this year.
In December 2015, Epstein emailed Barak, Israel's leader between 1999 and 2001, with whom he had just invested millions in a security start-up.
The paedophile wrote: "Weathy [sic] Chines [sic] looking for to start personel [sic] protection co in Beijing." He added that "kidnapping has begun". Barak then replied, "Where did you see it?".
Epstein then responded, "andrew". Barak said: "The Prince?". Epstein then sent a one word email: "yes".
The correspondence took place shortly after Andrew played a leading role in welcoming President Xi to the UK during a state visit.
Epstein died by suicide whilst awaiting trail in August 2019. Ghislaine Maxwell is a socialite and accomplice of Jeffrey Epstein. The 63-year-old was jailed for 20 years in 2022 for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse children.
