Man gobsmacked at price of McDonald's meal at popular airport

A man has shared the price it costs to buy a meal at at a popular airport - and Brits have been left gobsmacked. Craig shared how much a meal would set him back in a recent video and people can't get over it.

In the candid clip, he said he visited Antalya Airport, in , and stopped to look at the food. He was browsing the menu at the popular fast restaurant when he noticed just how much it would cost.

He said the prices were "mad", and his video shared a snapshot of what some popular meals cost people at the airport. In the clip, a Big Mac Meal is priced at €20,90, which equates to around £16.

Meanwhile, a Big Tasty Classic Meal would set you back €21,90, which is a little more expensive again. A Double Cheeseburger Meal also came in at €20,50.

People have been left stunned since the video was shared, and it's since gone . Customers were blown away by the hefty prices.

The video has been viewed thousands of times since it was shared, and people were quick to comment too. They offered all sorts of thoughts and ideas.

One said: "Antalya and Istanbul Airports are the most expensive airports in the world. Tell me the reason why?" Another wrote: "Literally just got home from Turkey a couple of hours ago, refused to pay at the airport, so now have a McDonald's en route to the house."

A third replied: "Why do people pay those ridiculous prices?" Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "Antalya prices are a massive rip-off."

Some pointed out that prices in Turkey have been rising for a while, while others said not everywhere in Turkey is expensive to visit. As well as this, there were some who said they don't know why people decide to pay the hefty prices.

Why is Turkey becoming so expensive?

There are a few reasons why prices are said to have shot up in Turkey. has offered one explanation.

The website reads: "Domestic producer price indices have been continuously rising, which has directly resulted in a price increase in all consumer goods and services. Accordingly, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in all commodity groups increased extremely since 2022.

"In the same year, the food and non-alcoholic beverages category had one of the highest inflation rates in the CPI. This particularly affected Turkish consumers, as these products accounted for the highest share of household expenditure in 2023.

"Since 2020, food prices have increased significantly around the world, and Turkey is no exception. Although inflation has started to slow down recently, food prices in Turkey continue to go up steadily, increasing by 48.6 percent in November 2024 compared to the same month in the previous year.

"It is not surprising that food inflation has not simmered down, as the producer price index (PPI) of agricultural products followed a constant increasing trend in the country over the past few years."

However, it's said Turkey is taking steps to help boost tourism, including addressing rising prices, making tourist offerings more diverse and investing in infrastructure. The Government is said to be working to reduce inflation, and some people are also promoting niche tourism areas like spas and health care.

McDonald's has been asked to comment about the price of meals at Antalya Airport.
