The Metropolitan Police has erected a steel ring outside the Britannia Hotel in east London. The hotel is set to host asylum seekers, according to the local council, and now the police have put up metal barriers to prevent anyone unauthorised from entering.
The Britannia International Hotel in London's Canary Wharf is a four-star accommodation, and some locals are angry that the site is reportedly to be used to house asylum seekers. The move from the police comes after a second night of bitter scenes outside the hotel, following a major rally by anti-migrant activists outside the luxury venue - where rooms can cost as much as £425 a night. This comes off the back of rioting in Epping last Thursday, where masked thugs attacked police vans in the Essex town.
