Liverpool postpone further events as internal email leaked after parade car crash

A leaked email from confirmed that they have postponed a number of internal staff events celebrating their title win, after . A number of events had been planned for staff to further mark their triumph, but they have now been put on the back burner while the club offers support to victims and those affected.

After a car crashed into supporters on Water Street during Monday's title parade, 27 fans, including four children, were rushed to hospital. Three adults and a child had to be dragged from underneath the suspect's car by fire crew. Merseyside Police are questioning a 53-year-old "white male" suspect.

The harrowing incident is not being deemed terror-related by authorities, with police treating it as a lone, isolated matter.

In an internal email seen by the , staff were informed that the club "will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities" and encouraged staff "to come together at this time to support each other" after postponing their planned events on Tuesday.

The move comes after , who put a picture online of himself kissing the trophy just two hours after a car had ploughed through hordes of fans in the city centre. He has since deleted the post on X (formerly known as Twitter) following backlash.

Dave Kitchin of the North West Ambulance Service confirmed . "We can confirm that our teams treated 20 patients at the scene for minor injuries and these did not need hospital treatment," he said.

"Twenty-seven patients in total were taken to hospital by ambulance and we believe two of those, including one of the children, have sustained serious injuries."

Liverpool City Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram , confirming that there are four people who are "very ill" in hospital. Though that figure was not an increase on the previous number who were seriously injured.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "We are hoping of course that they pull through. We're in liaison with the police and with the ambulance services. Last night they had two gold command meetings - one was really late in the evening, so this morning I'll get some updates."

Prime Minister Keir Starmer led support to victims in a statement. He said: "The scenes in Liverpool are appalling - my thoughts are with all those injured or affected.

"I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident. I'm being kept updated on developments and ask that we give the police the space they need to investigate."

leader described the incident as "sickening" and insisted that it amounts to a "heinous crime" whether it's classed as a terrorist incident or not.

"Those who target joyful celebrations and our happiest moments, who care not for the welfare of little children, are beneath contempt," he added on social media.
