Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is set to remain at Manchester United next season after being offered a World Cup lifeline by Carlo Ancelotti. Casemiro, who earns a hefty £350,000-a-week, was given an unexpected recall by his country when his former Real Madrid manager announced his first Brazil squad earlier this month.

Now, the 33-year-old is aiming for the finals in Canada, Mexico and the United States next summer, believing that his chances of playing in a third World Cup will be boosted by remaining in the Premier League, according to The Mirror. Over the past 18 months, Casemiro has been drawing interest from Saudi Arabia as United have been attempting to reduce their massive wage bill.

However, he managed to work his way back into manager Ruben Amorim's plans towards the end of the season and was rewarded when new Brazil coach Ancelotti ended his two-year international absence by including him in his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay. Casemiro played the full 90 minutes in both matches as Brazil gained four points to rise to third place in the South American qualifying table.

Ancelotti, who managed Casemiro at the Bernabeu, disagreed with the decision to sell him to United in a £70million deal three years ago.

The Italian believes the five-time Champions League winner can be a significant dressing room influence during his first stint at international management.

Casemiro, with only a year remaining on his contract at Manchester United, has been given the green light to leave if he chooses to make a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.

Despite the Reds having an option to extend his contract by 12 months, they won't stand in his way should the Brazilian decide to join Al-Nassr, a club known for its lavish spending and recent acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo on a two-year deal worth nearly £500m.

Despite interest from Al-Nassr, Casemiro has repeatedly stated his contentment in Manchester. The Brazilian, who is close friends with Ronaldo after their time together at Madrid, even shared a photo on Instagram this week wearing a pair of £7,000 LED recovery boots made by a company partly owned by Ronaldo.

United are currently seeking buyers for several players deemed surplus to requirements under Amorim, as part of their efforts to raise funds for a squad overhaul. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all up for grabs, but hopes that Inter Milan would follow up their enquiry for struggling £72 million striker Rasmus Hojlund with a bid have yet to materialise.

Inter Milan, after finishing second in Serie A and suffering a crushing defeat to Paris St Germain in the Champions League final, are on the hunt for two new strikers.

However, after splashing out £20 million on Parma's Ange-Yoan Bonny and preparing to give young talent Francesco Pio Esposito more minutes on the pitch following his impressive performance against River Plate in the Club World Cup, it seems a permanent deal for Hojlund may be off the table.

Inter, though, could still propose a 12-month loan deal with a compulsory purchase clause.
