When the tricolour reached Mehradasi village in Jhunjhunu with a fluttering flag, no victory had returned… Surendra Kumar, the mortal remains of a son, a husband and a father who had died for the country, had returned. Every person in the village who had gathered to bid a final farewell to Assistant Medical Sergeant Surendra Kumar of the Indian Air Force who had died in the firing of Pakistan, was saluting him with moist eyes and heavy heart.

Mother fainted, wife broke down, children kept crying.

As soon as the martyr's body reached the village, there was mourning all around. Mother's eyes closed after seeing her son for the last time - she fainted. Wife Seema kept crying while hugging the dead body, as if she fell short of words to say anything. At the same time, their innocent children, who probably do not even understand the meaning of death yet, kept crying while hugging their mother. This scene brought tears to everyone's eyes.

Daughter said - "I will take revenge for my father"

When the media spoke to his little daughter who was looking at her father's funeral pyre, her innocent answer was spine-chilling. She said, "I will take revenge for my father…". There were tears in the eyes of that girl, but there was such courage in her words which only the daughter of a true soldier can have.

Surendra Kumar was

posted at Udhampur Airbase in Jammu and Kashmir, where he was martyred in unprovoked firing by Pakistan on Saturday morning. With the news of his martyrdom, a wave of mourning spread in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan.

Slogans and tears echoed

in the last journey. The entire village bid him farewell with slogans of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Surendra Kumar Amar Rahein'. There were tears in the eyes and pride in the heart everywhere. Village people, army officers, public representatives - everyone was present there to salute a true son.
