A man allegedly put a in an oven and cooked it following a family argument over the barking. James Williamson, 44, is understood to have first made threats that he would turn the oven on and put the dog inside before carrying it out on May 19.
received reports from neighbours of yelps coming from the property before finding theon the driveway with severe burns. He has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty following the incident in Atmore, Alabama, where he is claimed to have put a chair against the oven to stop the dog from getting out.
Sergeant Darrell McMann of the Atmore Police Department told how when he arrived at the house he needed to compose himself due to the cruelty, adding that he also had a pet chihuahua. He said: "When I got there, I was just at a loss for words, you know. I really just stood there and looked at the dog for a little bit and had to get myself together."

The officer also believes that there needs to be stricter punishments for animal cruelty. “I think in cases like this, they [the law] should be strengthened," Sgt McMann told "Because I don’t think being a class C felony fits what he did." He went on to say the case was "horrible and inhumane."
Williamson was charged with a class C felony and has been landed with a $15,000 (£11,000) bond. If found guilty, he will be barred from animal ownership in the future.
Meanwhile, in the UK there has been concern leading to slow, painful deaths. The has highlighted last month a that involved a group of teenage boys firing shots at a black-headed gull in a back garden.
The bird's right elbow and wing bone were shattered by a metal shot and it was later dumped by a house in Northfleet, near Gravesend in Kent.
"It is really sad this beautiful bird appears to have died after being deliberately targeted, perhaps as part of a cruel game and went on to experience horrendous injuries before dying," said RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Adam Tasker.
He added: “The x-rays showed there was a round metallic foreign object eight millimetres (0.3in) in diameter near the bird’s right elbow. It caused a fracture which involved the humerus, radius and ulna and was consistent with a high impact trauma from being shot by a catapult.
"We are appealing for anyone who has any information about those responsible for this senseless killing to contact the RSPCA.”
