Leeds United's dream transfer window would see ex-Premier League striker and £25m star join

Send Push

Leeds have splashed out nearly £80million on seven fresh faces ahead of their return to the Premier League - but there is always room for new recruits, with boss Daniel Farke in the market for a forward.

Farke learned just how difficult the English top-flight can be when his Norwich City side were relegated in 2020 and will want to leave no stone unturned ahead of his quest for survival with Leeds.

Farke took the reins at Leeds in 2023 and has since overseen two remarkable seasons, culminating in the Whites' return to the Premier Leagueafter a two-year hiatus.

Leeds will kick-start their season against Everton at Elland Road next week, and a solid start on home turf would undoubtedly be the perfect way to kick off the campaign. Here we examine potential further additions to aid Leeds' Premier League survival bid.

£46m deal paves the way for new forward

Leeds reaped the benefits of Joel Piroe's goal-scoring prowess last season, with his 19 goals earning him the Championship golden boot. However, the forward is yet to prove himself in the Premier League.

With Farke sidelining Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt, his attacking options are limited, leaving Piroe supported by young Harry Gray. However, the imminent departure of Darwin Nunez from Liverpool, who have agreed to a £46m plus add-ons deal with Al-Hilal, could pave the way for Leeds to entice Aleksander Mitrovic back to England.

The Serbian has been with the Saudi Pro League side for three years, but rumours suggest the club might be willing to part ways with the 30-year-old, possibly due to the expected arrival of the Uruguayan.

Mitrovic, who netted 38 Premier League goals during his eight-year stint in English football with Newcastle and Fulham, would provide Farke with a proven goal scorer familiar with the relegation battle pressures.

Triggering £24.5m release clause

Enhancing their attacking prowess appears to be a key focus of Farke's transfer strategy, with Leicester City's creative midfielder Bilal El Khannouss reportedly on his radar.

Despite experiencing relegation in his debut season of English football last term with the Foxes finishing 18th, the 21-year-old Moroccan impressed potential buyers with his flair and forward-driving ability.

Leeds seem to be leading the race for his signature this month. If they manage to secure a deal for the young talent, they'll need to activate his reported £24.5m release clause, which is set to expire next Friday, just three days before their season opener against the Toffees.

Challenge in replacing Manor Solomon

Manor Solomon was a key player in Farke's system last season, netting 10 goals and providing 12 assists, helping Leeds United clinch the Championship title. However, this season they'll be without his services as the winger has returned to Tottenham after his loan spell.

There are whispers of a reunion, with reports suggesting Spurs might accept less than £20m for the Israeli star. If that doesn't pan out, Leeds have reportedly set their sights on Fiorentina's Riccardo Sottil.

A bid for the Italian would put Leeds in a bidding war, with Tutto Mercato reporting that Torino and Sassuolo are also keen on signing Sottil.
