Chris Robshaw's very famous wife he fell in love with in two minutes of meeting

Former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw is one of the new celebrities taking to the dance floor when the new series of Strictly Come Dancing starts again this weekend. But do you know who his famous wife is?

The 39-year-old, who retired in 2022 and has since appeared on TV shows like Celebrity SAS before being asked to do Strictly, is married to 37-year-old classical crossover singer Camilla Kerslake - who was the first person to be signed to Gary Barlow's record label back in 2009.

Huge career moments for Camilla include when she performed for Queen Elizabeth II, as well as singing the national anthem at Wembley and the then Millennium Stadium. Together with Chris, she also runs the Kerslake Robshaw Foundation, which offers education and career support for young people from less privileged backgrounds.

Here we look back at their romance, which began when the pair were in their early 20s, and how they plan to avoid the dreaded 'Strictly Curse'.

Love at first sight

Chris and Camilla met back in 2011 when they were both in their early 20s - and it is said to have been 'love at first sight'.

Camilla told how Chris asked for her number within two minutes of meeting her at a rugby charity event, where she was performing.

But she said their romance almost didn't happen as she told the Mail on Sunday: "My manager who was with me said I shouldn't give it to him. I said, 'Of course I will. Just look at him, he's gorgeous.' But it took a month before we met. We decided to be monogamous straight away."

Wedding and secret engagement

Chris and Camilla got engaged back in 2012 but somehow managed to keep it a secret for two whole years - finally revealing the news at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in July 2014.

They later tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Provence, France in 2018. At the time Camilla was 29 and Chris 32.

New pictures of the couple were revealed in Hello! Magazine, and of their big day in the Cote d'Azure Camilla said: "It was everything we'd dreamt of."

Though she wasn't looking forward to their first dance as 'Chris is the world's worst dancer', she was impressed with his moves on their big day and gushed: "He did dips, loops, and even a lift!"

Two children - and dramatic home birth

Since getting married seven years ago, the couple have gone on to become parents, welcoming two sons.

Wilding was born in May 2021 and is now four. While their youngest boy, Hunter, arrived in August 2024, making him 13 months old.

But in a dramatic moment, Chris thought he would have to deliver Hunter as their midwife got stuck in traffic when Camilla went into labour two weeks early.

"I thought I was going to have to deliver the baby, but they sent an ambulance instead,” Chris told OK! Magazine.

Luckily the midwife and an ambulance arrived just in case, but Camilla delivered Hunter in just four hours, reportedly pushing him out in a birthing pool in just one contraction. She later said this was due to her 'singing, weightlifting and long-term yoga practice.'

How they'll handle the 'Strictly curse'

As Chris prepares to take to the Strictly dance floor, wife Camilla has reportedly already taken steps to make sure the infamous and dreaded 'Strictly curse' doesn't affect their marriage.

Though the pro pairings haven't been publicly revealed yet, Camilla has already invited Chris' dance partner over for dinner and is said to want to "build a friendship outside of the show in a bid to stop anyone gossiping about the curse."

A source told The Sun: "Chris thinks they’ll hit it off as mates - and he’s joked to friends that he'll end up being the third wheel."

The 'Strictly curse' has become a talking point since the show first began in 2004, with several celebrity contestants leaving long-term partners for their professional dancers.

Notable cases of the dreaded curse include Countdown star Rachel Riley splitting from her husband before marrying professional dancer Pasha Kovalev in 2019. Stacey Dooley also left her partner Sam Tucknott and later had a child with professional dancer Kevin Clifton. Elsewhere, comedian Seann Walsh was brutally dumped after being caught kissing his professional dance partner, Katya Jones.
