Kuldevi-Kuldevta Puja: Indian people have been worshipping their Kuldevi-Devta for thousands of years. Who are the Kuldevi-Devta, what is the importance of worshipping them, what consequences the family has to suffer if they are not worshipped.
Kuldevi-Devta in Hindu Religion: In India, there are Kuldevi and Devta of the society or caste. Apart from this, there are also Pitradev. In auspicious functions like birth, marriage etc., people go to the place of Kuldevi or Devtas and worship them or praise is done in their name.
Apart from this, there is also a day when people of the respective clan gather at the place of their Devi and Devta. Those who do not know about their Kuldevi and Devta or who have forgotten, they are cut off from the branch and roots of their clan.
Kuldevta / Kuldevi has always had a place in the Hindu family worship system in India. Every Hindu family is a descendant of some Rishi, from whom their Gotra is known, later they were divided into Varnas based on their Karma.
Kuldevi-Devta of every caste and society
For performing different Karma, which later became their specialty and came to be known as caste. Every caste group is the descendant of some Rishi and for the children born from that original Rishi, that Rishi or Rishi's wife is also revered as Kuldev / Kuldevi. Kuldevta has the best place in life. The grace of Kuldevi has been found to be closely related to economic prosperity, family happiness and peace and health.
In the past, the elders of our clans, that is, the ancestors' family, chose a suitable Kul Devta or Kul Devi for themselves and started worshipping them, so that a spiritual and supernatural power keeps protecting the clans, so that they remain protected from negative powers, energies and aerial obstacles and they keep progressing on their path of work without any hindrance.
Who are Kul Devi or Devtas?
Kul Devi - Devtas are actually the protectors of the clan or lineage. They are the first to be worshipped and the main authority of the family or lineage. The status of these gods, who have the most intimacy, is as important as that of the elderly members of the family. Therefore, without worshipping or giving importance to them, all the worship and other works can be futile. Their influence is so important that if they get angry, then no other god or goddess can reduce or stop the ill effects or harm.
Example - Understand it like this - If the head of the family, father or mother is angry with you, then no one from the neighborhood or outside can enter your house for your good because they are "outsiders". Especially worldly people should worship the Kuldevi Devta daily like their Ishta Devta.
Many such families are seen who do not know anything about their Kuldevi. But Kuldevi - Devta does not go away just by forgetting them, they will still be there.
How to know about your Kuldevi - Devta
If you do not know, then take information about Kuldevi - Devi from the elders of your family or clan, try to know what is Jhadhula - Mundan Sanskar according to your clan tradition, or what is called "Jaat", or what is the last round (5th, 6th, 7th) after marriage. There is a difference according to every clan - religion. Generally, these rituals are performed in front of the Kuldevi/Kuldevta and this is their identity.
With the passage of time, due to families moving to different places, changing religions, getting displaced due to fear of invaders, untimely death of knowledgeable people, decay of rituals, growth of heterogeneity, not understanding the reason behind these, many families forgot their Kuldevta/Kuldevta or they did not know who their Kuldevta/Kuldevta is or how they are worshipped.
Among these, there are more families who have been living in cities for generations, some self-proclaimed modern people and those who look for scientific reason in everything, have also left these or paid no attention to them in the pride of their knowledge or in the pride of their present good condition.
What happens if you do not worship Kuldevi/Kuldevta?
After giving up the worship of Kul Devta/Devi, for a few years no special difference is noticed, but after that when the protective circle is removed, accidents, negative energy, aerial obstacles start entering the family without any hindrance.
Progress starts stopping, generations are not able to make the expected progress, decay of sanskars, moral degradation, quarrels, disturbances, unrest start.
A person tries to find the reason, but the reason is not known quickly because these do not have much to do with the planetary positions of the person.
So it is difficult to catch them through astrology etc., fate says something and something else happens to the person.
How do Kul Devta-Devi protect the family?
Kul Devta (family deity) or Devi (goddess) are our protective covers which fight and stop any external obstacle or negative energy before it enters the family or any individual. They also keep alerting us from time to time about family values and moral conduct. They are the ones who deliver the worship offered to any deity to the deity. If they are not getting worship, they can get angry or can become indifferent as well.
In such a situation, no matter which deity you worship, it does not reach that deity, because the bridge stops working, external obstacles, black magic etc., negative energy starts reaching the person without any hindrance, sometimes the worship of the deity being offered by the person or the family starts getting taken over by some other external aerial power, that is, the worship neither reaches the deity nor does it benefit.
This happens due to the indifference of the Kuldevta or his being less powerful. The Kuldev tradition has also become endangered, special attention should be given to those families where there is often quarrel, the lineage is not progressing, people are becoming childless, there is no economic progress, deformed children are being born or there are premature deaths.
When are they worshipped?
Kuldevta or Devi are sensitive towards the family rituals of the person concerned and can get angry with the method of worship, change, heretical activities or worships. Generally, they are worshipped once or twice a year at a fixed time. This time varies according to the family and there is a different specific method. Special worships are also given to them on occasions of marriage, childbirth, etc.
If all this stops, then either they get angry or become silent spectators without any concern and the family is exposed to supernatural powers without any protective cover. Various kinds of problems start in the family. Therefore, every person and family should know their Kuldevta or Devi and offer worship to them as per the need so that the family remains safe and progresses.
Often Kuldevi, Devta and Isht Devta can be the same. Their worship is also simple and without any pomp. Like regularly lighting lamps and incense sticks and calling or remembering the names of the Gods, doing special worship on specific days. If you prepare any dish at home, offer it to them first and then let the family members eat.
Invite them to every auspicious or auspicious work or do the work after asking their permission etc.
The most important thing about this family tradition is that even if you have changed your religion or deity, the Kuldevi Devta will not change, because they are related to your family lineage.
Should the Kuldevi-Devta be abandoned on changing religion?
But if along with changing religion or sect, the Kuldevi-Devta is also abandoned, then one may have to face many troubles in life like loss of wealth, poverty, diseases, accidents, family disputes, premature deaths etc. It has also been seen that due to these deities, protection from accidents, diseases etc. is also being provided.
I have seen many such families who do not know anything about their Kuldevi-Devta. One more thing is worth noting - after a woman gets married, the Kuldevi/Devta of her in-laws will be worshipped by her and not that of her parents. Similarly, if a child is adopted by another family, then the Kul Devta of the adopted family will be worshipped.
Method of worshipping Kuldevi/Kuldevta:-
Whenever you worship Kuldevi at home, the most important thing is the Puja material. The Puja material should be as follows - 4 coconuts with water, red cloth, 10 betel nuts, 8 or 16 items of adornment, 10 betel leaves, ghee lamp, kumkum, turmeric, sindoor, mauli, five types of sweets, puri, halwa, kheer, soaked gram, batasha, camphor, sacred thread, panchmeva.
Keep in mind that where there is a coconut with vermilion, only vermilion should be offered, not turmeric and kumkum. Where there is a coconut coloured with kumkum, only kumkum should be offered, not sindoor.
Do not offer vermilion on an uncoloured coconut, you can offer turmeric and roli, offer sacred thread here, while do not offer sacred thread at other places.
Offer only five types of sweets in front of them. Also offer them homemade puri, halwa and kheer.
Keep in mind that after the completion of the sadhana, distribute the prasad in the house only, do not give it to outsiders.
If you want, you can also chant the mantra of Durga or Kali in this puja, but then you must chant the Shiva mantra along with it.
Generally, traditionally, unmarried girls of the house are not included in the worship of the Kuldevta / Kuldevi, so they should be kept away from it.
On special days and festivals, place the picture of the Kuldevi / Kuldevta on a pure red cloth, light a lamp of ghee or oil, burn incense, perform havan with ghee or oil and offer churma baati, incense sticks, coconut, Satbani sweets, makhana seeds, perfume, green flowers etc. according to faith.
In Navratri, puja should be done according to tradition with Athvai.
Method of worship of Pitra Devta:-
Place the picture of Pitra Devta on a pure white cloth, light a ghee lamp, burn Google Dhoop, perform havan with ghee and then offer rice senak or rice kheer - puri. Incense sticks, coconut, Satbani sweets, lotus seeds, perfume, green flowers etc. as per faith.
* Rice senak: Boil the rice and then add ghee and sugar to it.
* Athvai: One sweet pua with two puris and semolina pudding on it, thus two pairs totaling 4 puris; 2 sweet pua and some semolina pudding.
Result of not worshipping Kuldevi / Kuldevta
Their worship has been going on since ancient times, no auspicious work is done without their blessings. This is the god or goddess who always maintains a security circle to protect the clan.
Your worship, fasting, story, whatever religious work you do, they send it to your Ishta. It is by their grace that the family lineage progresses, but in today's modern era, people do not even know who our Kuldev or Devi is. The result of which we are suffering today.
Today we do not know why so many problems are coming upon us? There are many people who do a lot of worship, are very religious, yet there is no peace and happiness in their family.
The son is unemployed, even after studying a lot, there is a fight between father and son, the money that comes in the house goes out through no one knows which way. First, the son and daughter do not get married, even if they get married somehow, there is no child. This is a sign that your Kuldev or Devi is angry with you.
The protective circle has been removed from you, due to which negative forces dominate you. Then no matter how many Pujas you get done, there will be no benefit.
But modern people do not believe in these things. Closing your eyes does not make it night. Truth will remain truth. What our elders have said is true, even if they did not study in English school like you all, but they had more understanding than you. Their values will not be found in today's children.
You are requested to find out your Kuldev or Kuldevi and take refuge in them. Ask for forgiveness for your mistake and worship the Kuldevta / Kuldevi daily.
