Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee, in a meeting held here on Saturday, decided that the mega sapling drive in the district would be given a new shape and extended up to village level. Panchvati Vatikas (gardens) would also be developed on the campus of all the Gram Panchayats.
MP Shankar Lalwani presided over the meeting which decided that under the mega tree plantation campaign underway in the district on the call of PM Narendra Modi and as per the direction of chief minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Panchvati gardens would be set up on the premises of all the gram panchayats with various types of plants.
The progress of various development schemes and programmes run by the Central and state governments in the district was also thoroughly reviewed.
Collector Asheesh Singh, district panchayat president Reena Malviya, MLA Madhu Verma, Shravan Chawda and other public representatives and officials were present in the meeting.
India Must Lead In Tech, Not Just Services, Says HCL Co-Founder ChowdhryMP Lalwani gave detailed instructions to the officials of all the departments concerned about timely and transparent implementation of public welfare schemes. During the review of the implementation of drinking water system and Jal Jeevan Mission, Lalwani directed to fulfill the target of tap water to every house with top priority.
It was told that the work under the mission in the district was almost complete. Out of 595 tap water schemes under the mission, work of 592 had been completed and they had been transferred to the Gram Panchayats for operation. Work on the remaining three schemes would also be completed by this month.
Lalwani directed to ensure the implementation of the schemes within the stipulated time frame. He said that special attention should be paid to the quality of drinking water and immediate action should be taken on any complaint of leakage or contamination.
Effective steps should be taken for the conservation and promotion of water sources. The MP reviewed the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G) and directed that continuous efforts should be made to maintain the open defecation free (ODF) status of villages.
