A 30-year-old man suffered critical burns after coming in contact with an overhead electric wire while travelling on the roof of a local train from Wadala to Panvel on Monday evening. The injured, identified as Ankur Pandey, was rushed to Vashi Municipal Hospital and later shifted to Mumbai’s J.J. Hospital for advanced treatment.
Incident Occurs Near Vashi Station; Train Services Temporarily Disrupted
According to railway police, Pandey had boarded the train roof at Mankhurd. As the train arrived at Vashi station around 5:10 p.m., he touched the live overhead wire, prompting passengers to alert police. Officers rushed to the scene, brought him down, and arranged immediate medical assistance.

Police suspect Pandey may have climbed onto the roof with the intention of ending his life. The incident caused temporary disruption to Harbour Line services. "We are tracing his relatives and investigating the motive," said Vashi Railway Police Senior Inspector Kiran Undare.
