Mumbai: In a horrific incident from Goregaon West, a 26-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death in front of their two children after she refused to give him money for alcohol. The accused, identified as Wasim Rafiq Shaikh, was arrested by Goregaon Police within two hours of the murder. The victim has been identified as Gaushiya Wasim Shaikh (25).
According to Bangur Nagar Police, the victim's father lodged a complaint on Monday morning, stating that his daughter had been murdered by her husband around 9:48 AM at their residence in Bhagat Singh Nagar No. 2, Goregaon West. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a police team rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation.
During the probe, it came to light that after committing the murder, the accused had informed his mother-in-law over the phone before switching off his mobile and fleeing. His changing locations indicated that he was attempting to escape by train, prompting the police to deploy teams across major railway stations.
The breakthrough came when the police tracked and apprehended Wasim near Ram Mandir railway station. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

The operation was executed by PI Anil Thakre, PI Amit Shitole, and other officers including API Vivek Tambe, API Sanjay Sarolkar, API Randhe, API Bankar, and API Mulgir. Further investigation into the case is underway.
