Mumbai: A 63-year-old woman, Maghiben Patel, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Andheri East on Friday. Patel was a pillion rider on a scooter driven by her husband, Ramaji Patel, 62, when a water tanker collided with them from behind on Pipeline Road.
The impact caused both to fall, and Maghiben was fatally run over by the tanker’s rear wheels. Her husband suffered minor injuries. The tanker driver fled the scene.
MIDC police have registered a case against the unidentified driver and are using the tanker’s registration number to locate him. The couple was returning home from a temple visit at the time of the incident.
