In a touching gesture, residents of Tamil Nadu greeted the Cauvery water when it was released from the Kallanai dam. Tamil Nadu locals offered flowers and prayers to the flowing water of the Cauvery River. Last Monday, Chief Minister MK Stalin released the water for irrigation in the Cauvery delta region.
Social media has been filled with videos and visuals of the locals. The video shows a large group of locals placing offerings on the ground as Cauvery water slowly begins flowing into dried-up land. People are running over to the flowing water and folding their hands to welcome the river.
