Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The PWD has geared up to take action against some officers after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s stringent view over the flawed 90-degree turn on the Aishbagh railway over bridge (ROB).

According to sources, chief engineer (bridge) Sanjay Khande, chief engineer (bridge) GP Verma, superintending engineer MP Singh and SDO Ravi Shukla may face the music. The level of action and the level of officers, against whom the action may be taken, will be decided only after Yadav puts his seal on the matter.

Along with this, the PWD is in touch with the railway authorities to fix the flaw on the ROB in Aishbagh.

The railway has adopted a recalcitrant attitude towards the construction of the bridge, which came to light in an inquiry. The railway authorities did not pay any heed to the letters sent by the PWD officials, highlighting the problems related to the ROB design.

According to sources, the state government may write to the railway authorities against such officers as were responsible for the flaw on the bridge.

Problems since beginning

There were problems in the construction since beginning. The ROB and the metro line were at the point of overlapping. When the issue came to light last year, questions were raised over the design of the bridge.

According to sources, making changes in the ROB is a difficult task. The government has to take land from the railways.

When an inspection was conducted for the ROP for the first time, it was discussed whether the bridge would be built on the railway land. But the railway authorities did not accept the proposal. This was the reason that the design was changed to construct the bridge.
