Zubeen Garg's manager Siddhartha Sharma and Northeast India Festival's chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta were on Wednesday remanded to 14 days' police custody by the Kamrup chief judicial magistrate in connection with the singer's death in Singapore. Since courts are closed for Durga Puja, the hearing took place at the judge's residence.
The duo was arrested and brought to Guwahati from Delhi on Wednesday morning, SIT chief Munna Prasad Gupta said.
"We arrested Siddharth Sharma from a location near Delhi... Shyamkanu Mahanta was on his way to Delhi from Singapore where the immigration bureau detained him based on the lookout circular... Later, the immigration handed him over to us... We have started interrogation and are going to do everything as per the law," Gupta told reporters here.
They have been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy and causing death by negligence, an official said.
