Jonty Rhodes has made his first business pitch on Indian television through Ideabaaz, a startup reality show on Zee.
Jonty Rhodes appeared alongside UpUrFit co-founders Munish Vig and Vikram Gunjal to present the sports wellness brand to the Titans, the panel of investors, seeking funding and mentorship. This marks a new role for Rhodes on Indian television, where he has usually been associated with cricket and coaching.
“Pitching on Ideabaaz was a whole new ballgame for me. Usually, I’m the one diving for catches, not catching investors’ attention. It was exciting to share UpUrFit’s vision on a platform that celebrates innovation and passion. As an athlete and entrepreneur, I’ve always believed in fitness that’s real and relatable, and that’s exactly what UpUrFit stands for," Jonty Rhodes said.
UpUrFit, founded by Munish Vig and Vikram Gunjal, focuses on the needs of India’s expanding fitness and sports community. With Rhodes backing the brand, it markets performance, recovery, and hygiene products made using clean ingredients with proven efficacy. The company, launched in 2023, positions itself as a disruptor in India’s $40 billion sports wellness market. Its core idea is to offer professional-grade recovery tools to everyday athletes.
The company is currently raising $0.5 million, with half of the round already subscribed. The investors include the IIM Calcutta syndicate, larger investors, and industry names.
As of October, the brand reported an annualised revenue run rate of Rs 4 crore, growing 50% quarter-on-quarter.
