As the Indo-Pakistan border tensions continue, sirens and blasts were heard in Jammu on Friday, making it the second consecutive day of tensions flaring up in Jammu & Kashmir.
The region is also facing a complete blackout including Akhnoor and Udhampur areas.
Drones have been sighted at 26 locations ranging from the Baramulla in the North to Bhuj in the West, along both the International Border and the Line of Control with Pakistan. These include suspected armed drones posing potential threats to civilian and military targets.
The locations include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet and Lakhi Nala.
The Indian Air Defence system has been engaged in intercepting the Pakistani drones.
Earlier in the evening, it was reported that Pakistan has resorted to small arms and artillery fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday evening.
In Punjab's Firozpur, too, a complete blackout has been enforced as sirens and explosions can be heard. Haryana's Panchkula and Ambala, along with Rajasthan's Jaisalmer have also been observing a complete blackout.
In an unfortunate incident, an armed drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, resulting in severe injuries to one of the three members of a local family. The injured have been provided medical assistance and the area has been sanitised by security forces.
Indian army urges citizens to stay alert
The Indian Armed Forces are maintaining a high state of alert, and all such aerial threats are being tracked and engaged using counter-drone systems. The situation is under close and constant watch, and prompt action is being taken wherever necessary.
Citizens, especially in border areas, are advised to remain indoors, limit unnecessary movement, and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities. While there is no need for panic, heightened vigilance and precaution are essential.

On the intervening night of May 8-9, Pakistan launched as many as 400 drones targeting regions across Punjab, Jammu, and Rajasthan. he Indian Armed Forces also successfully neutralised Pakistan military's attempts at a large-scale drone and missile attack on multiple Indian military installations, and an Air Defence system at Lahore was neutralised.

The attacks are in the wake of Operation Sindoor, India's retaliation April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 lives were lost, and for which a Pakistan affiliated terrorist group claimed responsibility for.
In the latest Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that he can hear intermittent sounds of blasts, probably heavy artillery, from where he is.
Early on May 7, the Indian armed forces held precision strikes under Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), targeting as many as nine terror launchpads.
