Noida: A 55-year-old woman has been placed under home quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19, officials confirmed on Saturday. Her family members' samples have been collected for testing.
Gautam Budh Nagar’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Narendra Kumar, stated, "The woman, now in home isolation, had traveled by train on May 14. Her family members' samples have been sent for Covid testing."
He added that the administration is fully prepared to handle the situation and urged the public to remain calm while continuing to follow safety measures such as mask-wearing and hand hygiene.
As of May 24, 2025, India has reported a total of 257 active COVID-19 cases across nine states, including Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Sikkim, and Tamil Nadu. This marks an increase from 93 active cases reported a week earlier.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare notes that while the number of active cases has risen, the overall severity remains low, with most patients experiencing mild symptoms and requiring minimal medical intervention.
In response to the uptick in cases, health authorities in several cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Gurgaon, have placed hospitals on alert and reissued health advisories to encourage public caution.
