In the UK, Meta has launched an ad-free subscription plan for Facebook and Instagram users. Those who want to get rid of ads will have to pay around €400 (£3.99) per month. Under the subscription plan, web users will pay €2.99, and mobile users €3.99.
If accounts are linked, only one subscription will be required. Meta has made this decision due to increasing regulatory pressure. The company was accused of using user data for advertising. The European Union has already fined Meta €200 million. However, the UK's ICO is supporting this move. The ICO says this change gives users control.
Now users can choose whether they want free scrolling with ads or an ad-free subscription. This change reflects the varying data privacy and digital regulations in different parts of the world. UK users can now enjoy an ad-free service for £10 per month.
