Eddie Nketiah's three-word message after handing Arsenal major Premier League title boost

Former Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah has reacted to his match-winning moment as he scored in stoppage time to give Crystal Palace a 2-1 win against Liverpool.

Nketiah, who left Arsenalto sign for Palace in a £30million deal last summer, endured a difficult first season at Selhurst Park, netting just seven goals in 37 appearances.

The 25-year-old started this campaign with a hamstring injury but he made his return to action as a second-half substitute during last weekend's 2-1 success at West Ham.

Despite struggling to make an impact, Nketiah was once again introduced as a late change in Saturday's clash against Liverpool, but this time he made a lasting impression.

Nketiah was subbed on in the 75th minute for Adam Wharton as Palace looked to hold out a one-goal advantage against Arne Slot's side, following Ismaila Sarr's first-half strike.

Although Federico Chiesa netted a controversial late equaliser for the Reds, there was still time for Palace to find an all-important winner with Nketiah the man of the moment.

In the 97th minute, a free-kick was headed on by Marc Guehi to Nketiah at the back post and the ex-Arsenal forward took a touch before drilling the ball beyond Alisson.

It was a moment that would have been celebrated by all involved with the Gunners, as they witnessed Liverpool drop points and lose a game for the first time this season.

Meanwhile, Nketiah delivered his reaction to the decisive goal on Instagram with a three-word message. Alongside several images of him celebrating his goal, he said: "It's our time [watch emoji and folded hands emoji] @cpfc."

A number of Arsenal players supported Nketiah, with Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Jesus, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Declan Rice liking the post.

Speaking to BBC Sport on his goal, Nketiah added: "I just tried to stay calm, I got a good first touch and a nice finish."

When asked about the full-time scenes at Selhurst - as Palace fans created a buoyant atmosphere when Nketiah's goal went in and the win was confirmed - he added: "That's what our fans are known for and it shows the togetherness of the group.

"We always keep believing, there was still time to play. The manager said to stay calm, told us that we would get another situation and thankfully we did. There aren't many teams who can create that many chances against Liverpool, so it's a thoroughly deserved three points.

"We are just taking it one game at a time. We have a really good group, so we will keep pushing and try to bring more success to the fans."

Arsenal can move to within two points of leaders Liverpool with a win at Newcastle United on Sunday. Mikel Arteta's side make the trip to St James' Park looking to make it 13 points from a possible 18.
